Diabetes Awareness - Jo Waterford Therapies

November is here, and apart from the rain ☔️ and storm Ciaran causing serious flooding in various regions, today it’s a typical autumnal day as I write this.

This month on the 14th is World Diabetes Day and this year the focus is on “empowering global health”.

Like me, I am sure we all know someone who is Diabetic and I feel it’s important that we all have a general understanding of it.

As we all know it’s important to eat well and cut out or at least down on sugar but do we all know what Diabetes is?

Do we know what Diabetes is?

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Glucose is your body’s main source of energy. Your body can make glucose, but glucose also comes from the food you eat.

Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that helps glucose get into your cells to be used for energy. If you have diabetes, your body doesn’t make enough—or any—insulin or doesn’t use insulin properly. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells.

Diabetes raises the risk of damage to the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart. Diabetes is also linked to some types of cancer. Taking steps to prevent or manage diabetes may lower your risk of developing diabetes health problems.

From my point of view, I don’t worry about treating a client who is Diabetic because the therapies I provide like Reflexology are very helpful.

During a Reflexology treatment, I focus on the reflex points associated with the Pancreas and the endocrine system ( our hormones ) which helps to promote insulin production by assisting the body’s cells in functioning as effectively as possible.

How can having a therapy like reflexology for example help?

👣Focusing on the reflexology points associated with the Pancreas and the endocrine system helps with Insulin production.

👣By assisting the body’s cells in functioning as effectively as possible.

👣Applying pressure to reflex points that correspond with the organs responsible for carbohydrate metabolism can help normalise blood sugar.

👣 Relax, Restore, and Rebalance the body

I hope this has been helpful, if I can help you please do get in contact with me

    Love
